Dear Pamela,
I took a bad fall and was taken to Kuakini hospital. I want to express my appreciation for the care I received from the emergency room staff: Dr. Kevin Lum, technician Wesley Anzai, and nurses Lisa Tatum and Michael Maricionda. Other Kuakini staff also provided fine care later, but these were “firstest with the mostest.”

Dear Gene,
“We’re glad that Gene is doing better,” says Kuakini hospital marketing and public relations director Donda Spiker. “Our first and foremost concern is the patient. Caring has been our tradition for 111 years. We want to make sure the patient is not only cared for, but leaves with a good customer experience.”
Dear Pamela,
I was having lunch at Best Drive-In on Sand Island and I guess I dropped my wallet. I didn’t notice I lost it until I got home that night. Thank you to the workers at Best Drive-In who not only found my wallet and tried calling my work phone number, but also took the time to drive the wallet out to my former address to deliver it on Friday night. I was able to pick up the wallet from the current tenant. I really appreciate such honesty and willingness to help me out. The food was great, too.
S. Kim
Sand Island
Dear S.,
Best Drive-In owner Daniel Lee says it’s the very least they would do for a regular customer. “He sent us a gift basket and he’s been back since, so we thank him for his loyalty.”
Dear Pamela,
My mom Betty Macalino was in Pali Momi hospital. She was confined in a bed for 13 days with congestive heart failure. Thanks to the wonderful staff at Pali Momi, including nurses, doctors, housekeeping and case management, her stay there was pleasant. It’s never easy for family to come to visit in these conditions, but the staff went above and beyond each time we came into contact with them. They were all
great to work with. To the fourth floor staff: Thank you from the bottom of my family’s heart. Their care for my mom is greatly appreciated.
Darnelle Prothero
Mililani
Dear Darnelle,
“We appreciate the kind words from Ms. Prothero about the care we provided to her mother, Mrs. Macalino,” says Valerie Kido, fourth floor nurse manager. “At Pali Momi Medical Center, we strive to provide every patient with the highest quality medical care and a positive hospital experience. We are always honored when our patients take the time to acknowledge our staff. We hope that Mrs. Macalino is doing well at home.”
