I recently lost my balance at Mililani Town Center due to my brain tumor. Two wonderful angels came to my rescue and helped me to my feet. One of my angels drove me home and helped me up the stairs. He refused the reward I offered. I hope they both will be rewarded in the future. Thank you for being so helpful and considerate.

I finish work about the same time public school gets out, so I am often on the bus along with a group of students. One day a group of boys starting taunting a younger boy. They called him names and pushed him around. I was so distressed. Before I could scold the boys, a woman behind me yelled “Lay off, you punks!” She got up and walked over to them and gave them a lecture on being role models to younger students. She called them cowards for ganging up on one boy. By the time she was finished they looked pretty sheepish. As she walked back, I said, “Bravo!” She said she’s a retired teacher. I wish I got her name.

Dear Pamela,
I am a senior citizen who relies on TheBus for all of my transportation. I boarded the No. 56 bus one day near my home in Kaneohe to make it to an important doctor’s appointment in Kailua town. What I didn’t immediately realize when I sat down was that my stature left me unable to see over the bottom sill of the window easily. By the time this had sunk in completely, and I craned my neck up to check my location and realized I had missed my stop - by a lot.
I rushed up to the driver to tell him to let me off so I could catch the next bus going in the opposite direction.
By this time the clock was ticking in my head and my appointment time was fast approaching. It was then that my angel appeared.
Ms. Tomiyasu noticed me crossing the street in obvious distress. She pulled over and asked me if I needed any help. I explained my situation to her and she immediately offered to whisk me to my appointment. I made it to my doctor’s appointment in plenty of time!
I’d like to send out a BIG mahalo to my angel in an SUV.
