Mahalo to Dr. Terry Beuret and husband Kit Beuret of Kailua. After a meeting in their neighborhood on a dark and overcast night, I happened to drive over a large rock.
The Beurets were very hospitable and comforting while I waited two hours for a tow truck to arrive. I found out later that troubleshooting my situation meant forgoing a favorite Monday night program and the evening news for the Beurets. But, moreover, their dog ran out and had to be retrieved. It then threw up that night.
Contracted workers were to arrive in the morning (in seven hours!) to work on the house. Yet, seeing that I was distressed and it being nearly midnight when the tow truck left, Dr. Beuret calmly invited me to stay over in their guest room to allowed me a fresh start in the morning.
Acts of kindness to others are mountains of diamonds. They move the spirit.

Dear Marian,
“Our neighbors had a lava rock stone to keep people from parking on their yard,” says Kit Beuret. “The rock somehow rolled to a position that had her front wheels off the ground. So we just had a cup of tea and waited for the tow truck. This is something you do for people; it’s being neighborly.”
Dear Pamela,
Unbeknownst to me, I dropped my keys and didn’t realize they were missing until it was time to go home! Mahalo to some kids who found them in the Safeway Hamakua Drive parking lot and turned them in to Safeway Customer Service. Mahalo to Kay and Kanani from Safeway, and to Marcia for her patience and prayers.

Marcia Kam has some APPLAUSE for you! “Sandy was actually doing me a favor,” she says. “I recently had knee surgery, so she was driving me to pick up a prescription. We looked everywhere for the keys and inquired at Safeway, but no one had turned them in. We went back to the car, but I told her go back to Safeway and give a phone number in case someone finds them. As she was trying to call someone for a ride, her cell phone rang. It was Safeway telling her someone had just found the keys in the parking lot.”

Even though the Endoscopy Center in Liliha didn’t find my problem, I wish to express my thanks to these wonderful, dedicated people who helped me get through the process. These people really make an effort to make patients feel that they matter!
