Quick Rescue After A Pothole Flat Tire

Last week while driving home from the store I nailed a very nasty pothole, causing my tire to go flat. I was able to pull over to the side of the road right at the worst intersection in Kapolei during the afternoon rush hour.
I didn’t have a spare and my three kids, ages 2, 3 and 7, were tired, hungry and very fussy. It started to sprinkle and I was worried that the rain would come down harder. I called my mom and she was able to come pick up my kids and drop off a spare tire.
Meanwhile I called for a tow and the first company said it would take 2 1/2 to 3 hours. The next tow company said 50 minutes. Finally, I spoke with Todd of Haleiwa Towing, and said he was leaving Kunia and would be right there! In 20 minutes Todd was there! He tried to change the tire first, but my mom’s spare didn’t fit. He ended up towing me to where I needed to go.

Dear Eileen,
Todd White of Haleiwa Off Road Towing says he tries to take the customer’s point of view. “I push all our workers to understand that when they show up, the customer is already in a bad position. They can be the hero. Part of their job is to make the customer feel good.”
Dear Pamela,
I have to give my greatest thanks to four ladies at the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Their names are Ruth, Lorna, Sue and Nani. I have no family here or on the Mainland. If I ask them for help, or to explain something, they are there at all times. I really feel they deserve some big APPLAUSE. I wish there were more people like them.

Dear Johanna,
“Johanna is such a giving person,” says librarian Sue Sugimura. “She comes in at least once a week to get her large print books. She’s an avid reader and spends time outside the library as well as inside. She feeds the ducks along the Ala Wai, and then comes in and tells us her duck stories.”
