Dear Pamela,
I went to Char Hung Sut for some dim sum and was greeted with a refund! A month earlier I had overpaid for a large party order of their taro cakes. Realizing the mistake, the staff was on the lookout for me. Such cheerful honesty is remarkable.

Dear Susie,
The Mau family, which has owned the dim sum factory for decades, appreciates your regular patronage. “If we see an error in an order slip, even if it’s in our favor, it’s good business to make it right,” says Mrs. Barbara Mau.
Dear Pamela,
My son was headed back to college in California. The night before he left he lost his wallet containing all his ID cards. While we started to scramble around to protect against identity theft (you know what a task that is!), Mr. Fritz Amtsberg from Oceantronics called to tell us that his daughter had found the wallet on the side of the road where it had apparently fallen out of the car when the door was opened. The next day I retrieved the wallet, all items intact! They insisted on not accepting anything in return for their good deed. It is comforting to know there are people like Fritz and his daughter who are conscientious enough to help out others. I know neither of them wants the publicity, but clearly they deserve many mahalos for their aloha spirit!

Thank you so much for finding my wallet! It was a life saver. I was about to tear apart the whole car and my house in order to find it. Thanks again, and anything you need from the Mainland, just ask.
Derek Hinkley, the lolo who lost the wallet
Dear Mike and Derek,
Fritz Amtsberg says it was his daughter Merrit who found the wallet on the way to work. “It was there on the road,” he says, “so she brought it to Oceantronics, our family business. He had a California address and also his dad’s local number, which we called right away.” Merrit Amtsberg says, “I’ve lost my wallet before and it was never recovered, so I know what it feels like. We’re so glad it all worked out.”
