Sidewalk Samaritans In Waikiki

Dear Pamela,
While strolling home from a delightful dinner with my son, my left leg suddenly failed me and I fell on the sidewalk in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village. My head hit the pavement with a loud thud. A young lady across the street hurried to my side and immediately called for an ambulance. My son lifted me up and used all of our Kleenex tissues to staunch the bleeding. We asked if anyone in the crowd had more tissues. A young man opened his drawstring bag and pulled out a sparkling white T-shirt and handed it to me. The ambulance came quickly, but by that time the shirt did not have a spot of white on it anymore.
My son asked the Good Samaritans their names and phone numbers, but they refused, so I’d like to thank them properly for their assistance. I am still healing and I am so grateful there were people around to help.

Dear Frances,
I’m sure your young Samaritan realizes there was no better use for his shirt than to bandage your injuries. Your paramedic angels were Adele Duldulao and Donald Takara.
Dear Pamela,
I got lost while going to a job interview in the Ala Moana area. Everything is under construction and I had failed to get the new address when I made the appointment. I went to where the old store used to be and saw only a boarded up entrance. I knew the new store was probably just relocated somewhere inside, but I couldn’t find it and no one I asked could direct me. I was starting to panic because the last thing I wanted was to show up late for a job interview.
Ramona Czerny was in the bookstore when I asked the sales-clerk for directions. She let me use her cell phone to call directory assistance, and afterwards to call the store to let them know I would be late. I offered to pay for the calls since I know there’s a charge for 411, but she refused and wished me luck on my interview. What aloha! Mahalo, Ramona, for being there when I needed help!
P.S. I got the job!

Dear Lucy,
Ramona is happy she was in the right place at the right time. “I remember what it’s like going for a job interview. You need to be calm and confident. I’m glad she pulled it together!”
