Thank Goodness For Animal Lovers

This past Thursday we had a miscommunication, which led to leaving our gate open and thus having three of our dogs “on the loose.” We were at an event in Kapolei when we received a phone call from one of our sons that three of our dogs were gone and that the smallest dog was hit by a car.
The first person to help was Officer Honda of the Hawaiian Humane Society. He related that he had witnessed the accident involving “Mugsy,” and brought him to our home. If Officer Honda was not a “Johnny on the spot,” Mugsy would not be here today. Three other angels were Tanya of Iroquois Point and her daughter, and an unidentified woman who had assisted them. The three had the courage to stop and lure our other two dogs into Tanya’s van. It took a lot of courage to do this because our other two dogs are very large. They not only put them into the van (with the help of Chicken McNuggets), but made cardboard posters and placed them around the Palailai Street area in Makakilo. Tanya then took the two dogs to her home. The other woman returned home and placed an ad on Craigslist.
Pamela, we are so blessed to have these individuals come into our lives! Officer Honda, the unidentified woman, Tanya and her daughter, thank you so, so much for your help! Today we are a family once again! Tanya related that
she and the other woman did it because they are animal lovers. We now believe that angels are animal lovers, too!

For Officer Delvin Honda of the Hawaiian Humane Society, it was quite an experience, too. He was on Makakilo Drive responding to a call when he saw three dogs running up the street. One of the dogs got hit by a car, flew up and landed. “I ran over to try to get the dog before he could run,” he says. “It looked like there was head trauma. It was a blessing to be in the right place at the right time. And what a relief to know the dog is now doing OK. I love my job, and it’s great that I could help.”

I would like APPLAUSE to go out to Nico’s At Pier 38. I went there with my husband and friends, and not until we arrived at Ala Moana Center did I realize that I had left my purse outside in the patio area at Nico’s! We rushed back and, sure enough, Chris was there, who had my purse with everything intact. I want to thank Chris and Nico’s for finding my purse. By the way, we love their food.
