Three Good Scouts And Their Dads

Dear Pamela,
A little over a week ago I went to the Enchanted Lake Safeway to buy groceries. I saw three Girl Scouts outside selling cookies. I only had my debit card with me in my purse, so I went to get money out of the ATM to buy two boxes of cookies. I then proceeded back into the store to get my groceries. While I was in the checkout line, I realized that my bank card was missing. I went outside to the Girl Scouts’ table to see if I had left it there. They had not seen it, but they offered to help me look for it in the store. It was not found till four hours later, but I appreciate their time and concern to help me find my bank card. I had to rush home to cancel my card, so I did not really get a chance to thank them. What they did was greatly appreciated, as well as their friendliness when I was buying the cookies. Their fathers were very nice and helpful too. All of the Safeway workers are awesome, as well, and I want to thank them for all that they do!

Dear Kendra,
Your Girl Scout angels were Katelynn Fraser (and her father, Tom), Ericka Saito (her father, Eric) and Sarah Amimoto (her father, Rys) from Troop 546. The girls are third year juniors in the program. Reyna Kaneko of Girls Scouts Hawaii says, “It’s always our hope the girls learn how to help their communities and we’re happy they were able to do so in this situation.”
Dear Pamela,
My husband, James, fell and broke his left femur. I want to thank the ambulance crew that picked him up and took care of him. He couldn’t remember our telephone number, so they came to the apartment to get me so I could go to the hospital with him. I remember seeing the name “Ogden” on the driver’s shirt. I want to say mahalo and God bless to this team and the consideration they gave both my husband and me.

Dear Carolyn,
Your angels were para-medics Adam Ogden and Jill Takayama. “We’re always pleased when people send their thanks,” says Norman Hahn, district chief of Emergency Medical Services, City and County of Honolulu.
Dear Pamela,
I give APPLAUSE to the guys at Midas Waipahu. My car had two pages worth of problems with a healthy price. I wanted to die. I couldn’t afford all this. Gilbert, one of the mechanics, explained everything to me and I finally told him to go ahead with the job. All in all, the job got done at a price I
could afford. They have the greatest guys there who truly care about what they do and take pride in their work.
Alohalani Kunisaki
Mililani
Dear Alohalani,
Midas Waipahu mechanic Casison says this is what his job is all about. “After I pointed out each thing that needed to be done with her car, she understood the importance of the repairs. We gave her a discount here and there, just so we could proceed. Now she says the car runs better than it has in years. That makes me feel good.”
(If you know someone who deserves some Applause, send your letters to Pamela Young, MidWeek Applause, KITV, 801 S. King St., Honolulu, HI, 96813 or e-mail pyoung@kitv.com. Include your name, phone number and, if possible, the phone number of your “applaudee” so we can contact him or her.)
