What Goes Around, Comes Around

I am still speechless from the multiple blessings that I have received through a simple act of kindness. A few weeks ago I was ill, and although it was not life-threatening, it made for a challenging few weeks. My 7-year-old son has two cool friends whose mommies, Lori and Wendy, went out of their way to help. They showed up at my doorstep with a yummy meal (including all the fixings) for my family to enjoy. You should’ve seen the spread they made, packed just right so all I had to do is stick it in the oven and serve! Their thoughtfulness left me speechless, as I am still trying to figure out how to express my gratitude.
Then, I received another blessing as I took the opportunity to explain to my son what they had done for me. He responded with, “Wow, Mom, we should be like that.” My heart is full of joy for their thoughtfulness and for the priceless teachings they have instilled in our hearts.

According to Lori Hiraki and her sister Wendy Okamoto, you are like that! “Jody’s son Jonah and our sons Josh and Vance are friends at school, and that’s how we met,” says Lori.
“It has turned out to be a treasured friendship. She is active in New Hope Church and often plans activities for the school moms to get together. Over the holidays, she had the boys baking cookies and putting together gift baskets for the seniors at Lunalilo elderly care home. As a former teacher, she organized a fundraiser for another teacher undergoing cancer treatment. What we did for her was so small compared to what she does for all of us.”
Dear Pamela,
Recently I happened to be in a group of students from Kawananakoa Middle School about to cross the street fronting Kuakini Medical Center. At our turn, I tripped on a wire attached to a light pole. One of the students graciously assisted me when I fell, and the group helped me as we crossed the street. I want to give them APPLAUSE for their concern. They were my caring little angels at a time when I needed help. I want to applaud and thank them for their courteous attention.
