If anyone doubts that the true spirit of aloha is alive and well, I guarantee that it was on the No. 4 bus. A lovely lady boarded just a few stops before mine and settled next to me. I complimented her on her lauhala hat and beautiful eyelash yarn and ribbon lei papale and commented that I also enjoy using my collection of similar lei as lei papale. With that she reached into her tote bag and brought out an exquisite pale green and yellow lei, handed it to me and said, “Would you like to have this one? I just made it!”
My stop came up before I could do more to express my gratitude. Her gift, to use a favorite phrase of my mother’s, “warmed the cockles of my heart,” and it will be treasured and worn on my favorite papale and its story will be shared by all my friends and family!
With luck we will meet again on the No. 4!

Hello Pamela,
Much APPLAUSE to the person who found my black fanny pack at Zippy’s Mililani. I didn’t realize that I did not have my bag with me until I got home a couple hours later. You saved me the problems of getting a new driver’s license and new credit cards. I really appreciate your honesty. What a relief it was to find out that someone had turned the fanny bag in to the office with my wallet and credit cards still in it when I went to Zippy’s to inquire about my misplaced pack. With much aloha! God bless.

Dear Pamela,
On our way to the Moana Surfrider we experienced a flat tire on the Moanalua on-ramp heading east. We pulled over at the Aliamanu Military Reservation “barricaded” side gate. My husband jacked the car up and got the “donut” out of the trunk. Soldier Vargas had seen our predicament, made a round-about turn and stopped to assist us. Alas, the lug nuts were frozen, and we could not get them off. I reminded him he’d be late for work. He replied, “I always start off early.” We thanked him and off he went to work.
While my husband tried to get assistance from our insurance company, I said a prayer, and a truck pulled over.
A young man stepped out and we told him our predicament. He went to the back of his truck and got a long piece of pipe which he was able to use as a fulcrum to remove the lug nuts. He put on the “donut” spare and reminded us that it was just a temporary fix. Mahalo to Bully from Waialua. We had to purchase a new tire, but the aloha shown by these two young men was irreplaceable!
