When we decided to renovate Hale Ho Aloha, our senior care facility on Pacific Heights Road that has served Honolulu families for 34 years, it was an opportunity to answer an important question:

“What is the right size for a skilled nursing home?”

The answer for us quickly became clear. We felt strongly that we should not expand the gracious, two-story building that has been our residents’ home, but in fact, decided to reduce the number of resident beds to 59, to ensure more highly personalized attention. From our vantage point with panoramic views of the Honolulu skyline and the ocean beyond, we also designed a plan to renovate all of our resident rooms, public spaces and offices.

We knew it was critical that Hale Ho Aloha modernize, but also that we maintain a comfortable, secure and peaceful environment, appropriate to our mission of providing the finest intermediate and skilled nursing and respite care in the Islands.

I am proud to say that the skilled, experienced staff at Hale Ho Aloha had a great deal of input in the renovation planning. They insisted that the changes reflect both our professional commitment to our residents, and Hale Ho Aloha’s home-like, tropical setting and Hawaiian values.

The project also took advantage of the significant expertise and resources of our parent company, Itagaki Medical Group, the second largest operator of senior care facilities and hospitals in Japan.

At the core of this renovation process was our commitment to the Hale Ho Aloha philosophy of care: Individuals are unique, and deserving of dignity and respect. Our staff is carefully selected for their combination of skills and their approach to patient care. We see and attend to the whole person and their preferences with friendliness, compassion and flexibility.

Today, we are putting the finishing touches on our renovations, and our residents, their families and our staff are extremely pleased with the results.

We would welcome the opportunity to share with you the “new” Hale Ho Aloha. Please call 524-1955 ext. 112 to schedule a visit. You can also visit our website at www.halehoaloha.com.
