As the oldest brother in a family of 10 children, I took on the responsibility of raising my younger brothers and sisters when my father passed away. Making sure that they got an education and helping them get a good start in life was a way to honor my father. This was not done just out of family responsibility, I did it because they are my family and I care very deeply about their well-being.
Everyone who lives in Hawaii knows that we are a very tight-knit community. As a member of this community, I apply the same philosophy in business as I did with my family. By placing trust in my employees and giving them the freedom to excel, I know that we will take care of our customers. By providing the best service possible, we are helping local businesses be more successful and ensuring the health of our community.
CompuTant is the largest and most experienced locally owned point of sale (POS) and accounting software solutions provider in Hawaii.
POS systems are the computerized registers seen in many establishments such as Auntie Pasto’s, Benihana, Café Maharani, Down To Earth, Executive Chef Bath and Butler, Kale’s Health Food Store, Lappert’s Ice Cream, The Shack and many other local businesses you might be familiar with. Because of the services Hawaii Helping the Hungry Have Hope (H5) provides to homeless families on Oahu, CompuTant saw an opportunity to “do our part.” CompuTant donated our profits from the sale of a client management system, which enables H5 to more efficiently provide services to Hawaii’s families in need.
We also are initiating a program where students from various public schools will visit CompuTant and be exposed to the technology we provide and how it influences their lives. I believe that helping Hawaii’s youths to better understand technology and business is a great way to prepare them for a bright future.
CompuTant is celebrating its 25th year in business, and I personally wish to thank all of our customers and partners for the faith they place in CompuTant every day. This exciting event is co-sponsored by First Hawaiian Bank and provides a forum where businesses can see the latest POS software and hardware technology. One thing I have learned in business: If we do not take care of our customers, our competition will. I will never forget the day that a customer literally shed tears of joy, gave me a hug and thanked me for the service we provided. This only happens in Hawaii, and this kind of personal relationship with our customers motivates me to come to work every day.
