Wahiawa Assist 2 Sell location

On April 1, I reached a milestone in my real estate career. I, and my now business partner David Swan (also a co-owner and broker), opened an Assist-2-Sell Real Estate office in Wahiawa.

I first became aware of Assist-2-Sell four years ago and never imagined the great adventure I was about to begin. I worked in four Assist-2-Sell offices before opening my own. I always wanted to give customers full service at a reasonable cost and still make a profit - and that’s exactly what the company has done for me. I knew in my heart customers were not getting the service they deserved, and the fees they were paying were too high. We pride ourselves on communication and service.

With more than 20 years combined experience, David and I do our best to save sellers thousands of dollars by charging only a flat fee for our services. With old traditional brokerages still charging up to 6 percent commissions, we, in combination with our more than 670 offices nationwide, saved sellers $282 million in 2005.

The company, started in 1987 in Reno, has been featured in Newsweek and several other publications as a model for the future of real estate. There’s now a viable alternative for sellers and buyers that offers the best of both worlds - full service with savings! The new brokerage is structured to help home owners retain as much of their hard-earned equity as possible, and help buyers with their costs as well. Assist-2-Sell clients are constantly impressed.

Under the Assist-2-Sell marketing programs, sellers receive the full services of a professional Realtor at a fraction of what they’d expect to pay. A huge difference: Most agents spend time marketing themselves, but Assist-2-Sell takes a different approach. Our agents are free to focus on the customers and spend their time getting the homes sold. There are no up-front or hidden fees; sellers pay only when their home sells.

With this common-sense business approach and a dedicated staff willing to carry out the new philosophy, Assist-2-Sell has flourished.

I’d say that our biggest challenge is getting the message out to the consumer that our lower fees do not mean less service or less results. I’ve often gotten the impression when folks first contact us they are really thinking “there must be a catch.” They call thinking they’ll be able to eliminate us as a choice because there must be something they have to do. They are pleasantly surprised when I, or any other Assist-2-Sell representative, tells them that we do everything any other Realtor does. The only difference is we charge less than the competition.

I’m always telling people, “Don’t let the name of the business fool you. It’s not a do-it-yourself concept.”
