President & CEO Martin & MacArthur

As a kamaaina and native Hawaiian, I consider it an honor to be CEO of Martin & MacArthur, which many consider a part of the island lifestyle.

I believe that our 23 talented craftsmen keep the art of fine furniture-making alive and thriving in Hawaii.

These men and women build the world’s most beautiful furniture at our workshop in Kalihi. We are delighted to be hiring new young woodworkers and bringing them through the only furniture apprenticeship program in Hawaii.

They work alongside our master craftsmen, including company founder Jon Martin and Doug Gordon, our vice president of furniture, who now leads all production.

Our highly skilled craftsmen build each piece of our fine koa furniture right here in Hawaii with time-tested techniques.

Our workmanship is guaranteed for a lifetime. No one else stands by their quality with that kind of guarantee.

Last year, we were honored to be named the fine furniture maker of ‘Iolani Palace. We are partnering with ‘Iolani Palace to recreate beautiful pieces once owned by the monarchs.

In keeping with today’s Hawaiian lifestyle, we have created several new lines of updated yet classic koa furniture. These new lines are timeless and elegant. Most of the furniture is part of the new collections we developed in the past two years.

With the terrible recession, people ask how we have managed to double our stores and employees. Instead of cutting back, I have taken this opportunity for strategic expansion.

Three years ago, Martin & MacArthur had only three stores. We now have seven, and an eighth opening in March 2011 at the Grand Hyatt Kauai.

The best reason to build more stores is because it allows us to feature many more of the fabulous artists and craftsmen of Hawaii. We are proud partners with the finest Hawaiian artisans who make stunning boxes, bowls, ceramics, glassware, beauty care and artwork.

Our stores feature only the best, and it is our responsibility to maintain that level of exceptional quality with every offering.

Overall, we want to help our customers enjoy a lifestyle of truly gracious Hawaiian living.

I invite you to find out more about Martin & MacArthur by visiting any of our retail locations or by visiting our online store at MartinandMacArthur.com. You also can follow us on Facebook (facebook.com/Martin-MacArthur).
