AAA Hawaii has been reshaped! Membership in the service organization has become even more valuable. The company has seen its membership increase to more than 100,000.
The most noticeable physical change at AAA Hawaii has been the re-configuration and relocation of the office, located on Nimitz Highway in the Nimitz Center. The office is more user-friendly and was designed for easy access to AAA Hawaii services and products. The traditional counter has been replaced with a cloverleaf structure and color-coded signs hang from the ceiling to direct members to products and services.
The design is part of AAA Hawaii’s continuing commitment to deliver quality services to our members. Our members can make just one stop for their AAA needs. The office provides a full-service travel agency, financial services, AAA memberships, maps and “TourBooks,” attraction tickets and notary. The travel agency meets the needs of members through its partners Hertz, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Disney Cruise Line and Pleasant Holidays. Members also receive exclusive AAA discounts on cruises, tours, car rentals and hotels.
We’re dedicated to adding value to AAA Hawaii memberships. That’s why we now offer the AAA Plus and AAA Premier enhanced memberships, in addition to our Classic membership.
All members receive AAA industry-leading roadside assistance, free maps, “TripTiks” and “TourBooks.” To provide benefits members can use daily, the company increased member discounts through partnerships with stores and service providers who participate in AAA “Show Your Card & Save program.”
Other membership benefits include access to the AAA Hawaii Web site that provides information about services (www.aaa.com), and Hawaii WESTWAYS, a travel magazine tailored to the island lifestyle.
As an Oahu resident, I join my staff in going the extra mile by serving the community-at-large, in addition to AAA members. We participate as a member of multiple local organizations, including the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau and Hawaii’s Better Business Bureau.
AAA Hawaii provides free educational programs and materials to local schools, the media and the public on topics such as driver and pedestrian safety, avoiding aggressive driving, selecting child-safe cars, driver education and travel safety. Noteworthy education programs supported by AAA Hawaii include: the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition, AAA Travel Challenge, and sponsorship of the AAA Five Diamond Hospitality Scholarship. The auto skills contest encourages Hawaii’s best high school automobile technicians to pursue careers in the automobile industry by competing for college scholarships. Hawaii students have dominated the national competition for five years.
Other programs, such as the visiting Otto the Auto, AAA’s talking car, teaches traffic safety to K-2 students and the College and University Drinking and Driving Prevention Award recognizes students and universities that have taken innovative steps to reduce campus drinking and driving.
These programs are important. Because we all benefit when drivers practice safer habits and children understand how to protect themselves as pedestrians.
