Chairman & CEO of Hawaiian Springs

When I invested in Hawaiian Springs in late 2006, our team had a strong belief in the quality and authenticity of our product: natural artesian water, filtered through lava rock, harvested and bottled at the source on the slopes of Mauna Loa. This confidence inspired us to work hard to share the brand with others beyond our home state of Hawaii.

Immediately, we set to work on the tasks that would take Hawaiian Springs from limited distribution and no distinguishing characteristics among a sea of competitors to a superior world-class product with authentic Hawaiian heritage that people around the world could enjoy. Investing in new, artist-designed packaging that complements our water was key in conveying its caliber and origins. We spent a considerable amount of time working with Maui-based Sae Design to develop a new teal bottle design and new labels featuring endemic and indigenous flowers, which signified a premium product that restaurants, hotels, health food stores and other retailers are proud to carry. Featuring these flowers was important to us in our commitment to raising awareness about conserving Hawaii’s unique ecosystem.

We have always conducted business in an environmentally responsible way, drawing our water from a highly sustainable source on the Big Island and using local materials whenever possible. Now, we have a new initiative called Preserving Paradise specifically focused on the conservation of native plant life.

Demand has rapidly grown as more people have discovered the distinctive taste of Hawaiian Springs Water, and we have been able to increase distribution to many U.S. Mainland markets as well as Asia.

Looking ahead, we at Hawaiian Springs want to continue bringing Hawaii’s premium natural bottled water to more people around the globe. When I see our signature teal-colored bottles featuring native plants, I’m proud that we are able to share a truly genuine Hawaiian product and a part of the Islands’ allure with the rest of the world.
