General Manager, Aloha Tower Marketplace

In preparation of one of Aloha Tower Marketplace’s biggest events of the year - the July 3 fireworks extravaganza- it was amazing to see so many moving parts working together to create a memorable experience for our guests. Part of the entertainment and activities included Darren Benitez, Jake Shimabukuro, a fashion show by former Miss Hawaii USAAlicia Michioka Jones, balloon animals, face-hair painting for the keiki and the finale, of course - a creatively choreographed fireworks show synched to music on KCCN - all FREE of charge to the public.

This was one of many events we provide during the year. While many malls do have community events, Aloha Tower Marketplace offers unique opportunities.

Aloha Tower is one of the most recognizable and identifiable landmarks in Hawaii, second only to Diamond Head. It is situated along Honolulu Harbor, overlooking both the harbor and downtown Honolulu. The marketplace is ideally located for people working downtown to step away for a social or business lunch, or for pau hana family dining with a variety of choices. It is the only harborfront shopping center in Hawaii that offers one of the best backdrops for lunch, dinner and happy hour enjoyment.

The property was developed as a “festival marketplace,” one of perhaps a dozen in the world. Along with our many specialty shops and eateries, we also focus on events and entertainment that are of increasing importance to the downtown and Chinatown areas.

As general manager of Aloha Tower Marketplace, I have found the uniqueness of the property to be truly exciting as well as entertaining. The energy of the tenants and the Aloha Tower Marketplace staff make it a pleasure to come to work.

We love events! Some tenants will host their own events and contract other tenants as part of their venue - which may be a private or public event with or without an admission fee.

Events hosted by the marketplace management are free to the public, with merchants contributing by way of prizes or in-store promotions. If you have experienced our Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, July 3 pre-Independence Day fireworks, auto shows or the upcoming First Fashion Friday events, you know that it has become the “center of celebration.”

The people behind the scenes are essential to keeping our events functioning effectively, with an impressive sense of teamwork. Although it may sound like all fun and glamour, planning an event is quite challenging. Our marketing department, as well as our security, housekeeping, parking and maintenance staff, work extra-hard to achieve a successful and safe environment.

It is for you, the consumer, to enjoy the result of this hard work.

If you have attended festivities at Aloha Tower Marketplace, we hope to see you again for continued memorable experiences.

But if you have yet to experience one of our events, I, along with the staff and merchants of Aloha Tower Marketplace, would like to invite you to join us and see why we are Hawaii’s center of celebration!
