Fred DeAngelo is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools and enjoys bringing his own contemporary island cuisine to discerning diners. He opened Palomino Restaurant in 1999 and in 2003 became an integral part of the success of Tiki’s Grill and Bar in Waikiki. Today he is the chef/owner of Olino Events, a catering company that specializes in fresh, local food for any and every occasion.

“We can cater anything from intimate dinners with the chef on hand, to large wedding and corporate events,” says Fred. Here are a few things we bet you didn’t know about him.

Favorite Dish From Any Other Restaurant In Hawaii: Everything on Chef Santa Miyoshi’s menu at Tokkuri Tei, including the otokoyama.

What’s In Your Refrigerator: I’m never without butter, both salted and unsalted.

Favorite Late-nite Snack: I’ve become addicted to popcorn and lots of fresh melted butter at midnight.


Who Would You Most Like To Cook For: I would most like to cook dinner for … can’t think of anyone else except my fiancée Cheryl.

Single Ingredient You Cannot Live Without: I cannot live without fresh fish on my menu, or dinner plate at home.
