Chris Callahan and Miles Christensen have a favorite question they like to ask others:
“Is it an original or is it one of our prints?”
Their business Print Logic creates fine art prints. The ulit-mate complement for them is if someone can’t tell if it is an original art work or one of their prints, which is done with a printing process called gicle´e. They also offer design services, lithography, and color management consulting.
Callahan and Christensen say once people see what they can do, they wish they could have learned about these services sooner.
“We really have a unique relationship with the artists,” explains Christensen.
Callahan agrees: “It’s a collaboration.”
Their portfolio includes signage at the walk of fame at the Dole Cannery, Buzz’s Steakhouse Lunar Calendar, Bishop Museum artwork, and art galleries.
Callahan and Christensen met because their wives are friends. When Callahan visited Christensen’s home in Hawaii, Christensen had a printer on his 440-foot lanai. Callahan was fascinated with the machine as he’s been in the printing business since his tenth grade shop class. Callahan majored in graphics at Cal Poly San Louis Obispo. Christensen was in the film industry and he had started a company called PostLogic in 1984 in the streets of his home-town of Hollywood.
The business started in 1997 where work had been done from that lanai until the last year and half before they found this 1,000 square-foot shop.
Callahan says he couldn’t do this without the loving support of his wife Danielle, and their two children 5 year-old Nathan, and 3 year-old Jaiden. Christensen appreciates the encouragement of his wife Kati, and their children 7 year-old Cloe, 6 year-old Mau’dib, and 3 year-old twins Mortikai and Donvin.
“Creativity doesn’t stop here,” said Callahan.
“This place is such a melting pot,” said Christensen.
Print Logic is located at 1247 Kailua Road. The hours of operation are 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
