Where and with whom did you see the movie?
I saw it at Ward Theater with my husband David and one of my shopaholic girlfriends Effie Steiger and her boyfriend Lawrence.
Overall, what did you think?
I thought it was a cute movie. It was one of those movies, if you see it with a girlfriend, you’ll like it.
Being that your work is in the fashion world, what fashion aspect of the story hit home for you most?
I definitely think the part in the movie where she loves to shop - every girl can understand that part, and I think everybody can understand the realistic parts in the movie where she’s in debt because of her love of shopping. Especially now with the recession, people still have a love for shopping, because something’s on sale they think that’s the perfect reason to buy it.
Could you identify with Isla Fisher’s character Rebecca?
I definitely identified with Rebecca as far as the love for clothes and the way that it makes you feel when you buy something - it makes everything better when you’re having a bad day.
What about the acting, did anyone stand out?
Rebecca (Fisher) - she portrayed a shopaholic very well. I thought her best friend in the movie also was really good.
What about the fashions featured in the movie? Were they glamorous and impressive?
They didn’t specifically explain which designer she was wearing - you could tell she mixed in a lot of vintage with couture.There were really cute shoes in the movie, for sure. They had some really cute Dior, Gucci bags. She also went to shopaholics anonymous (meetings). She totally cleaned out her closet and sold everything she put herself in debt for to get herself out of debt. She falls in love with a financial editor of a magazine. She takes a job because she wants to get a job at a fashion magazine in the same group. She’s a huge success, because she’s a columnist who can relate to young Americans.
On a scale of one to four stars, what would you rate this movie?
I would say ★★★.

We’re participating in this Tap Project - it’s one of those things that’s really starting to get out into places in Hawaii.They basically raise money to supply drinking water in countries that don’t have clean drinking water.The Wedding Cafe owner Tanna Dang has her thing called “Divas Doing Good” March 27-28.A whole bunch of boutiques are participating (including Fashionista’s Market).You buy a $5 ticket and you go to any (participating) boutique and get 20 percent off your purchase, and all proceeds are donated to Tap.
