Serenity
Movie Review with O-Dogg
On-Air Personality 93.1-The Zone
As Told To Katie Young

Where and with whom did you see the movie?

I saw the movie at Dole Cannery with my homeboys Jimmy and Hazmatt.

Serenity

Overall what did you think?

Absolutely loved it. One of the best movies that I’ve seen all year.

What was your favorite scene?

There was one scene where they were escaping from the bad guys (Reavers) after robbing a vault.I thought that was done very well.

Did you have a favorite character?

I liked Jayne. I thought he added a lot of comedic relief to the film.

How would you rate the acting?

Very solid performances. I thought the actor playing The Operative was especially good.He was cold and calculating.

How were the special effects?

I thought Joss Whedon really incorporated the effects into the story well. Like the outer space battles were epic and huge, with spacecrafts everywhere.

Did the movie have a meaning?

I’m a huge fan of Joss Whedon’s work, and he always has an overall message. His stuff on Buffy and Angel had it and so does this film.

It’s all about conviction, and how a small group can make a big difference.

What was the best/worst aspect about the movie?

I thought the best part about the movie was the writing. Whedon spun his trademark humor and wit and really amped up the action. My only disappointment was that,at times, some of the dialogue was drowned out by other sound effects.

Is it a movie that you would see again?

Definitely. I’ll end up buying the DVD as well. I’m obsessive that way.

To whom would you recommend the film?

Normally, I would say a movie like this is for us hardcore scifi nerds, but this really is a great “popcorn"movie that doesn’t take itself too serious. Everyone should go see it.

On a four star rating, with four being the highest, what would you rate the movie?

I give it a solid three stars.

What’s your favorite movie snack?

I’m weird. I like dry popcorn, no salt,no butter. That and a Coke and I’m all good.

What’s your favorite movie?

I don’t really have a favorite.

I think I have many. Maybe I’m noncommittal? Actually, some of my favorites are Chasing Amy, Say Anything, Pulp Fiction and Fever Pitch (Go Red Sox!).

How often do you go to the movies?

Not as often as I would like, maybe once every couple of months. I’m a DVD guy now, mostly because I am painfully single.

Who’s your favorite movie buddy?

I usually go on, like, a marathon movie day with my friend Jimmy. If it’s a date flick, I take my friend Lauren if she can get off of work.

What genre of movies do you like?

Comedies are usually my favorites. I can usually watch a crappy comedy and be OK, but I can’t do that to a sub-par drama or action flick. I end up talking to the screen. It’s embarrassing.

Who’s your favorite actor/actress?

Christopher Walken, cause he’s so freakin’creepy! Also Eliza Dushku because she loves me she just doesn’t know it yet.

What’s new?

Well, right now I’m doing my thing,week-nights 7 p.m. to midnight, on 93.1 The Zone.We are a relatively new station, but the support from the listeners has been outstanding. Hey, we want more listeners, so tune into 93.1 The Zone!

Next week: a new movie, a new celebrity
