THE MOST popular Las Vegas website is LasVegasAdvisor.com. People from all over the world gather to talk and trade tips about our favorite city. We talk with founder and the Travel Channel’s Vegas expert Anthony Curtis on Kimo’s Vegas Thursday at 9 a.m. (and again Friday at 6 p.m.) on Sports Radio KKEA1420 AM.
THE GENERAL consensus is that you are super, super, super lucky if you win $1 million on a slot machine. So what do you say about someone who wins $1 million not once but twice … on the same machine?! That’s what happened to Jo Ann Argyris on the Millioni$er Penny slot machine. What’s she doing with her second mill? She’s bringing the whole family to Hawaii for a vacation. (By the way, you guys, she’s single.)
EVER WONDER why they keep building bigger hotels? The Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority said last year 37.4 million people went to Vegas! That’s more than 100,000 people per day.
Steve Wynn’s new ‘Wynn
Machine’ has the wow factor
THE AVERAGE person gambles $545 per trip! I know, sounded kinda low to me, too, maybe the guys from Hawaii Kai were home when they did the survey!
THE RED ($5) chips are called nickels, the greens ($25) are quarters and the $100 chips are called blacks. Did you know the $500 chips are called Barneys, because they are the same color as the “I Love You” dinosaur?
SAY YOU ARE cruisin’ through the casino and you see a Barney on the floor and no one else in sight … did you know the chip legally belongs to the casino? So that’s why I never find any chips on the floor.
VETERAN VEGAS visitor Ron Chung checks in to say the Las Vegas Monorail is great (when it’s working … they shut it down twice a couple of weeks ago). It goes from the MGM Grand to the Sahara, but be prepared for a looooong walk between the monorail station and the hotel. Das why dey wen make rubbah slippahs!
Talk about luck: Jo Ann Argyris
won $1 million twice on the same
Millioni$er Penny slot machine
THE WYNN Las Vegas features many innovations … still to come an interactive Japanese slot machine! Steve Wynn’s partner Kazuo Okada (the Japanese restaurant in the Wynn bears his name) owns a slot machine manufacturing company in Japan that’s reportedly bigger then IGT (the Mega Bucks guys). The new slot is called the “Wynn Machine” and is supposed to make everyone say “WOW”… yeah, but can it make sushi?
SPOTTED IN Vegas, the 442nd Combat Unit, the Waialua Class of ’58 and Hawaii’s Wahine of Fire Dizanne & Tracy.
