Britney Spears is a guest at the Palms Hotel
SHE’S USUALLY a guest of the Palms Hotel, but Paris Hilton was at the Hard Rock last week. Perhaps she didn’t want to compete with Britney Spears, who’s the current guest of Palms owner George Maloof. The “Toxic” B.S. plays a mean game of Blackjack, winning $10,000 at The Mint (the high limit lounge at the Palms). George then took the newly single singer on a shopping trip at Caesars Forum Shops, where she bought a dozen outfits at Dolce & Gabbana and Chrome Hearts.

THE PEARL - not the BlackBerry, but the latest Vegas concert venue - is under construction at the Palms. The intimate venue is the ultimate in high tech with state-of-the-art lighting, video and sound systems. The venue even will be capable of recording concerts directly into The Studio at the Palms. Check out the triple-tiered seating, skyboxes and personal lounges.

David Copperfield bought

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to me… David Copperfield turned 50, and bought a $50 million cluster of private islands in the Bahamas. His present included the Musha Cay resort. If you’re not familiar with the property, it rents for $25,000 a day and has hosted folks like Bill Gates and Oprah Winfrey.
STEVE WYNN is credited with transforming Las Vegas into the city it is today with his visions for the Mirage, Treasure Island, Bellagio and the Wynn. The American Gaming Association inducted the billionaire into the Gaming Hall of Fame. At the awards ceremony, he said, “We have our pictures in the program and we look good. I remember when it first started; guys like us had our pictures in a mug book. And now we’re in Forbes magazine. Some people think that’s the same thing.”
THE GAMING2 EXPO is where casino execs from around the world gather to check out and buy the latest stuff for casinos ... a couple of highlights of this year’s convention were a new poker table and a new poker game ...
Poker Tek introduced its new Heads-Up tables. It’s like playing poker on the Internet, except your opponents are sitting next to you. The table has 10 monitors (one for each player) and all transactions are handled by a computerized dealer.
And an alternative to Texas hold ‘em was introduced called WhoopAss Poker, with new features including player vs. house and an optional buy card allowing for up to 11 bets per hand.
