Monty Python's SPAMALOT at Wynn Las Vegas
WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
Michael Jackson
PRINCE, Paris and papa Michael Jackson are back in the states and now calling Las Vegas home. The Wynn, Planet Hollywood, MGM or maybe The New Frontier ... no one is saying for sure where the King of Pop will make his new home, but odds makers believe a deal is close.
VEGAS ODDS makers are also picking Martin Scorsese’s The Departed to win the Oscar this year for Best Movie.
A TRUE BATTLE of Titans is happening at the MGM Grand May 5: Oscar De La Hoya (38-4, 30 KOs) will meet undefeated world champion Floyd Mayweather (37-0, 24 KOs). De La Hoya said, “This is what boxing is all about, and fighting Floyd Mayweather is the type of fight that truly gets me motivated to go through a hard training camp and make the sacrifices I have to make to be the best.” While Mayweather said at the same press conference, “I’m excited to get this opportunity to once again show why I’m pound-for-pound the best in the world, and to add another title to my collection. I respect everything Oscar has accomplished in this sport, but this time he’s in over his head.” A guaranteed sellout - get your tickets when they go on sale (soon) or expect to pay a scalper’s super premium.
IT’S FINALLY, almost, kind of a done deal (pending regulatory approval), the final tab about $28 billion in cash to buy the world’s largest gaming company, Harrah’s. It’s the largest deal of its kind and the sixth largest cooperate buyout of all time. New York-based Apollo Management and Texas Pacific Group of Fort Worth, Texas, committed to pay $90 a share to buy 190 million outstanding shares of Harrah’s Entertainment and assumption of the company’s $10.7 billion debt.
THE HAWAIIAN Tropic Zone is opening inside the Miracle Mile Shops. A clone of the NYC Times Square outlet features nightly beauty pageants on the V-shaped bar, and beautiful women who not only take your food and beverage orders but also facilitate introductions between patrons.

THE 10 Million Dollar Man is the nickname of Joe Hachem, one of four poker pros to win the World Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker. He recently won the WPT Doyle Brunson North American Poker Championship in Las Vegas, a $15,000 buy-in WPT event, with 583 contestants - his payday more than $2.1 million. That combined with his WSOP $7.5 million make his earnings more than $10 million in less than two years.
THE SINSATION Poker Classic is happening at The Imperial Palace Jan. 26-28 - $500 gets you in, and the winner takes home $100,000.
OR CHECK OUT the Palms’ $1 million Free Roll Tournament, where first place gets $500,000. To qualify, just accumulate 500 hours of live play between Jan. 1 and May 31. Get all the entry details at www.KimosVegas.com.
PEOPLE FROM miles around are traveling to Freddy & Chilee Montero’s Las Vegas home to see the water-stain image of the Virgin Mary on the side of their house. Flowers and candles have been left in front of the image.
DIDYA HEAR about the two guys in Vegas who went to the bank for a loan? They offered two, $1 million silver certificates (dollar bills) as collateral. Only problem with their plan is that no such bill was ever minted. Silver certs were circulated as legal tender until 1967, however, the largest denomination for the bill was $100,000. At least they replaced the image of the Statue of Liberty with George Washington.
