WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
David Lee Roth
HAS IT BEEN 22 years already? Yep ... that’s how long it’s been since David Lee Roth left Eddie and the band. Van Halen’s reunion tour is in the works and it’ll kick off in Vegas. The one thing the band will miss on this tour is their manager Ed Leffler, who died of thyroid cancer in 1993.
LIZA MINELLI fans will be able to celebrate her birthday with ... her. The Oscar, Tony, Emmy and Grammy winner (what no Na Hoku Hanohano award?) will be performing at the Luxor starting March 29. Garins’ ball-barins, she’ll sing her hits Bye Bye Blackbird, Cabaret and the Theme from New York, New York. Tickets are on sale now and less than $100!
Elton John
THIS MONTH, check out the legendary Elton John at the Caesars Palace Coliseum. Selling out every night, his five-decade career shows no sign of slowing. Sir Elton was inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and knighted, and has sold more than 250 million albums, making him one of the most successful and prolific artists of our time.
WHERE DID Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Ryan Seacrest stay for their surprise appearance at Paula Abdul‘s “Woman of the Year” presentation? ... The Wynn Las Vegas.
THIS WEEK, Vegas locals are getting to preview the Mel Brooks musical comedy The Producers starring former Baywatch guy David Hasselhoff (in a dress and high heels).
ALSO THIS WEEK ... Harrah’s released (fired) 200 mid-level employees, and rumor has it the Rio may soon become the sister property to the Palms.
OPENING IN MARCH ... The Lucky Strike Lanes, a retro 10-lane bowling alley, restaurant and bar in the Rio. Yes they have 8-pound balls ... no phone calls, please.
Teri Hatcher
STARS ON THE Strip next week ... Robin Williams, Brad Garrett, David Copperfield, Andre Agassi, Teri Hatcher, Julie Andrews, Paul Anka and more will be at the “Power of Love” dinner at the MGM Grand. The benefit is for the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute to help cure Alzheimer’s and memory disorders. Every benefit has an auction and some of the items up for bid are a stay at (designers) Salvatore Ferragamo‘s and Ermenegildo Zegna‘s villas in Italy and one week on David Copperfield’s private island!
