A CROWD gathered around Geraldine Mack of Henderson, Nev. ... She says she usually plays the quarter machine at the Flamingo Hilton but couldn’t find an open one, so she played the $1 machine. Nevada’s latest millionaire is paying off her mortgage and bringing her son and daughter to ... Hawaii.
THIRTY-YEAR-OLD restaurant, hotel and entertainment entrepreneur Sam Nazarian has bought the Sahara Hotel and Casino. The sale price was not disclosed, but experts say the property sold for between $300 million and $400 million. William Bennett bought the property in ‘95 for $193 million and invested another $100 million before he died in 2003. No announcements were made, but it’s a safe bet that Nazarian will make changes to the aging locale of Ocean’s 11 because his company runs some of the hottest hangouts in L.A., the Viceroy Hotels in Santa Monica and Palm Springs, and Miami’s Ritz Plaza.
