WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!

Pepsi in Vegas
Pepsi in Vegas

BRITNEY SPEARS, adorned with wig and hat, celebrated her new-found singlehood with girlfriends partying at Tao in the Venetian, Tryst at Wynn Las Vegas, and shopping at The Caesars Forum Shops. No Dom Perignon for the recently rehabbed pop star - she drank Pepsi all night. The cost of her freedom is reportedly $1 million - not exactly a big puka in the bank account of the singer who has sold more than 76 million albums worldwide.

SLOT PLAYERS take note: $8,000 or $1 million? That’s what happened to Florida Eash - the slot machine she was playing hit the jackpot, which lit up and flashed her huge payday. The casino, however, said it was incorrectly programmed to pay $1 million instead of $8,000, arguing in court that she should have read the pay table and known that the machine was incorrectly programmed. The Mississippi Gaming Commission unanimously agreed that she won the big money. The casino is appealing its decision.

IN A LANDSLIDE, Oscar Goodman claimed his third term as mayor of Las Vegas with 84 percent of the vote. Did you know that as the mayor of Las Vegas he is not the big guy of the Strip? The Las Vegas city limits end at Sahara - that’s where the township of Paradise begins.

THE LUXOR has a new online (just for fun) slot machine that features the girls from Fantasy, the hotel’s adult revue. Get the link at www.KimosVegas.com.

IF YOU HAVE a Harrah’s Diamond or Seven Stars card, you can get free show tickets to Jubilee, The Society of Seven, Second City, Mac King or Vinnie Favorito. Keep using your player’s card because they’re also giving away more than 1,200 Royal Caribbean cruises from now through June 10.

THIS WEEK’S Kimo’s Vegas tip comes from Vacations Hawaii sales and promotion manager Kevin Kaneshiro. He says you can save about $4 a day on your car rental by renting your car at the California Hotel instead of the spiffy new car rental facility near the airport. In addition to the car, you’ll pay a 4 percent registration and license reimbursement fee, 6 percent Nevada rental service fee, 7.5 percent state tax, a 10 percent airport concession recovery fee (that’s 27.5 percent in taxes) and a $3 consumer facility fee, proving that all politicians are tax crazy.

SPEAKING OF the Cal ... one of downtown’s best values is its $6.99 prime rib dinner served daily from 5 to 11p.m. It comes complete with salad bar, veggies, potato, cooked-to-order prime rib and cherries jubilee for desert ... I’ll take one for the plane ride home please.

A BANNER with the words “We’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” is all that Meggan Anderson and Christina Cho wore at the Forum Shops at Caesars the other day. Burberry was the target of the birthday suited PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) protest. OK guys, tell the truth ... how many of you read the words on the banner?

THERE’S A RUMOR that Sony BMG music will release Viva Las Vegas, a 38 track double CD set, including the best Elvis live Las Vegas recordings and a never-before-released concert.
