GUARANTEED PLAY is a new video poker game created by billionaire inventor Jay Walker - the guy who brought us Priceline.com. On a traditional quarter machine, $20 buys you 16 hands. On a guarantee play machine the same Andrew Jackson gets you 75 hands. The catch: You can cash out at any time, but once you cash out your remaining hands are forfeited. The new machines will be appearing in the casinos soon, followed by a slot version.

There’s also a new poker game being tested called “Double Down Texas Holdem.” As the name suggests it combines elements of Blackjack and Hold ‘em. In addition to the ante payoffs, you can win 1,000 times your side bet if your first two cards are aces and the dealer flops a pair of big ones on the river. You can also double your bet after you see the first five cards. Right now the game is only at the Palace Station.

THE CASINOS accepted $635.4 million in college and professional basketball bets last year. So when the NBA suggested that they would consider a Vegas-based team if they built a $60 million facility, paid a multimillion-dollar franchise fee and eliminated betting on NBA games, casino management immediately wanted to know what the NBA big wigs were smokin’.

STUD FARM or suds farm? Hollywood madame Heidi Fleiss says she’s opening a Laundromat in Pahrump, Nev., called Heidi’s Suds Farm. Seems her legal team is advising her not to get into the brothel business until her participation in an ongoing FBI investigation is pau.
