WHO’S THE HIGHEST in all the land? Legendary Australian billionaire Kerry Packer was the biggest tipping whale known to Vegas (he once paid a waitress’s mortgage). His company, now run by his son, continues to build on his legacy and plans to build the tallest building in all America on the Las Vegas Strip. It’s hard to imagine how tall 1,888 feet above ground level is, but you can get some idea of the build-ing’s scope at www.KimosVegas.com. The company chose the 1,888 height because that was the first year the Washington Monument was open to the public and 2,000 feet would have surely gotten 86’d by the FAA. A high like this cost $1,250,000 per room or $4.8 billion total.
KIMO’S VEGAS TRIVIA ... The 15-foot-tall-by-16-foot-wide chandelier at Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular, costs $3 million, and when it crashes each night you can feel the air rush past your head (it’s barely 10 feet above).

LOCAL CHEF Roy Yamaguchi’s annual Island Hop Dinner is a five-course meal that features pupu-style Honoka’a spiced sirloin steak, pan-flashed Hawaiian abalone and crab salad, seared rare sashimi, lobster, hearts of palm and pancetta, grilled venison chop, kalbi pork belly and Thai citrus shrimp, and a guava chiffon shortcake with lilikoi and strawberries. If all this sounds ono to you, this special menu is served Aug. 7 only at both Roy’s Las Vegas restaurants.

ROLLING STONE magazine calls him the “Best Showman on The Strip!” But Jeff Beacher (pals with celebs like Paris Hilton) has accepted the challenge to go from Hollywood SLOB to Las Vegas heartthrob. Weighing in at 350 pounds, he has to get down to 200 by December’s Las Vegas Marathon. Using diet designer Dr. Goldsmith’s plan he’s already lost 60 pounds and has 90 left to go. While it’s not an easy row to hoe (a combination of diet and exercise) ... who wouldn’t give it a shot to have the good doctor write you a check for $100,000!
