WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
PLENTY FOLKS wen spock Paris Hilton practicing the French arts with Britney Spears’ ex Kevin Federline before her New Year’s gig at LAX ... a few even reported seeing K-Fed sneaking into her hotel room later that night. What happened to the pizza guy? These debutants change partners more often than we change our rubbah slippahs.
MEANWHILE Britney Spears threatened K-fed that she would elope with another professional hanger-on, Sam Lufti. The words that gave him da chicken skin ... “no pre-nup.”
OFFICIAL GUESSTI-MATES say 303,000 people partied in Vegas this New Year’s Eve. The estimated take from those folks: about $211 million before they walked into the casinos.
CASTLE GRAD and Palms marketing manager Mae Russell was home for Christmas vacation. She says you gotta check out its new AXE Suite. No, it’s not homage to the 1993 Mike Meyers movie So I Married an Axe Murderer, but a partnership with AXE, the folks who make the men’s deodorant. High atop the 52nd floor of the Palms Tower is a 2,000-square-foot, two-bedroom penthouse suite that includes an Xbox 360 (who has time for that?), lingerie, a fridge filled with whipped cream and gourmet chocolate, and your very own blackjack table.
MORE BAD NEWS for Vegas real estate ... Apprentice winner Stefanie Schaeffer is the new marketing director for Donald Trump’s Las Vegas condo and hotel. Her challenge is to sell out the current tower (prices range from $700,000 to $7 million) and the second tower while the luxury condo market continues to go south. Before construction began, buyers put up $10,000 deposits, but now experts say many are trying to flip their condos or just walk away from their $10 grand.

TO GET US to play more, the casinos are always moving and changing their slot machines. According the Nevada Gaming Control Board, in August there were 2,249 penny machines Downtown compared to 7,087 on the Strip. The Downtown slots paid out 89.2 percent, compared to 89.0 percent on the Strip. Dollar players had more choices on the Strip: 6,263 vs. 1,200 Downtown, but lost more: 6.9 percent compared to 4.3 percent Downtown. The moral of the story: Penny machines pay about the same, but dollars last longer Downtown.
RAPPER/ENTREPRENEUR Jay Z’s new 40/40 club in the Palazzo had building permit and inspection issues, but still managed a huge New Year’s Eve opening bash. Also open in the new $1.8 billion resort, some casino space, the lobby and atrium that links it to the Venetian. Representatives say the Palazzo is still scheduled for Jan. 17 opening.
BEFORE YOU MAKE that bet on the “Big Game” ... the point spread on any sporting event does not predict who will win (and by how many points). The casino sets the line based on how much money is bet on each team. Because the house charges a vig (fee on every bet placed) it would be satisfied if the money on each side was even.
CONGRATS TO Marvin Young of Honolulu, who won $7,000, and Claude Onizuka of Kealakekua, who won $10,070 playing KENO at the Cal!
