THE FEDERAL Aviation Administration has approved Crown Las Vegas plans to build the tallest hotel tower in the United States. At 1,064 feet, it’s 85 feet shorter than the Stratosphere’s (roomless) tower and 824 feet shorter than originally planned. The $5 billion project will include 5,000 rooms and a 250,000-square-foot casino, and is expected to open in 2011 where the old Wet ‘n Wild used to be.
TOURISM OFFICIALS estimate that last week’s International Consumer Electronics Show was host to more than 140,000 people from 140 countries. Some of the gadgets that premiered at the show (and will be on our store shelves later this year) include a 150-inch plasma TV, super thin (1.7-inch) LCD TVs, a stuffed lion cub that reacts to your touch and a radio-controlled cooler on wheels (for those of us who don’t have rubber floors like they do in the Bud Light commercial).
