LAS VEGAS’ newest hotel, the Palazzo, is officially open but not completely finished.When it is completed, the Palazzo, Venetian and Sands Expo Center will be the largest resort and hotel complex in the world with 7,074 rooms. If you’re planning to eyeball the palace for yourself, the 4,000-stall (don’t forget where you parked) Venetian underground structure is now shared with its sister property. Look for the escalators or elevators that go directly to the Palazzo so you won’t have to find your way from the Venetian’s confusing floor plan. Some of the Palazzo’s free must-sees are the lobby, the atrium, the bridge between the two hotels and The Shoppes at the Palazzo ... nothing like that new casino smell.
TO ENCOURAGE your play, The Palazzo is giving away $25,000 a day between now and Jan. 20. Just join the hotel’s slot Club Grazie and earn one drawing entry for every 100 points on your player’s account.

DID YOU KNOW ... there are slot machines in 37 of the 50 states? This year, four more states are expected to approve one-armed bandits ... there’s one slot for every 395 residents ... there have never been more slot and video poker machines operating in the U.S. - 767,418 ... this year another 100,000 new machines are expected to go into service ... last year was the first year slots were legal in Pennsylvania, and 12,000 machines generated $580 million in revenue.
WHO’S HOT? Some slot players believe that the machines run HOT (pay off a lot) or COLD (pay off a little). By law, slot machines are programmed to be completely random ... at any given point in time (like your vacation) anything can happen, but over time (like five years or so) they will keep a predetermined percentage (up to 25 percent by Nevada law) of the money wagered for their owner.
