WE’VE ALL WAITED for a table before ... but 117 days? The poker world is abuzz about the format change in the main event of the World Series of Poker. The final table will be decided in a tournament that ends July 14 at the Rio, but the champion won’t be determined until Nov. 9-10. Then all the action from the final table will air in prime time one day later on ESPN. It’s the longest TV delay ever - ESPN will air coverage of the WSOP every Tuesday night starting July 22. Players are concerned that the delay will open the final table to collusion and other nefarious circumstances.
MICHAEL JORDAN’s and Tiger Woods’ playground in the desert, Shadow Creek, is closing ... no need to rush out and book your tee-time now. It’s only a temporary closure. Creator Tom Fazio (the course’s original architect) is overseeing upgrades to the irrigation system and the building of a world-class, short-game facility that should reopen in December (but make your reservations in October).

THE OWNERS of the Tropicana missed the interest payment on a $1.32 billion loan, forcing the company to seek Chapter 11 protection. The company operates 13 hotel casinos, including the Tropicana and Westin Casuarina in Las Vegas, and employs about 11,000.
WHEN ONE COURSE closes another one opens ... The Chase is a new Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at the PGA Golf Club Coyote Springs. The par-72 is the first of two courses to open and is less than an hour away from the Strip.
CONSERVATIVE Sean Hannity is no conservative on the casino floor. The talk-show host is developing a reputation as a Vegas high roller ... he even bragged about winning big on his radio show last week.

KICK OFF Memorial Day weekend by supporting local boy and UFC Lightweight champion B.J. Penn when he defends his title against former champ Sean Sherk May 24. Also on the card: Tito Ortiz fights Lyoto Machida, and Wanderlei Silva takes on Keith Jardine at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
MAKE IT a double header and check out Grammy and Academy Award-winner Robin Williams the next day (Sunday) at the Garden.
LOCAL ENTERTAINMENT entrepreneur Roy Tokujo (Cove Entertainment and Ulalena) is bringing the excitement of Las Vegas to Waikiki with his latest project Waikiki Nei. The $22 million production and entertainment venue is a partnership with Vegas entertainment executive Todd Dougall, former vice president of entertainment for the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino (if you’ve been to Studio 54, Tabu Ultra Lounge or KA!, you’re familiar with his work). When it opens in July, Waikiki Nei will be an all-inone entertainment complex with a 750-seat theater, after-hours nightclub and Vegas-style ultra lounge with VIP services, specialty cocktails and interactive tables on the top floor of Royal Hawaiian Center.
