THEY ARE planning to build a high-speed train from L.A. to Las Vegas with an ETA between the two cities of 90 minutes. Estimated price tag for the speed demon is $1.5 billion (I hope it works better than the Monorail).

MUCH MAHALOS to George Oishi, his beautiful assistant Malia, Bill Smith and Kevin Kaneshiro from Vacations Hawaii and the folks at the Stardust for another fun party at the Royal. They had the only crap table where you can’t lose. Each guest was given a lucky number, then Tiny Tadani and Sweetie Pacarro drew numbers to decide who got to roll the dice. Whatever number you rolled was how much $$$ you won in $100 bills! Roll a seven, win $700, roll an 11, collect $1,100. The only problem — Sweetie forgot to call my number!

BIGGER IS better! In the premiere issue of Caesars Player magazine, there is a story about who’s got the biggest ... yacht! Seems there’s a bit of competition among the world’s super rich to have the biggest boat in the ocean (measured in feet). Used to be a time when just owning a "yacht" was good enough, then one needed to upgrade to a "megayacht" just to distance one’s self from the commoners. Now it’s time to make wave for the "giga-yacht," because some guys jus’ gotta have da biggest one.
TIGER WOODS spent $20 million on a four-deck 228-footer, and he’s not even in the game. Paul Allen (Microsoft) has a 414-foot ship with seven decks, a basketball court and recording studio, and he’s barely making the top five. Kahraman Sadikoglu is fourth with a 446-footer. At third is Larry Ellison, (Oracle) with a 453-foot boat. In second King Fahd’s 482-footer. But the guy with the biggest boat in the water is the Crown Prince of Dubai, with a 525-footer that cost him about $250 million. It sounds like I’ve got a serious case of "yacht envy," but is this the real reason the price of oil (and our gasoline and electricity bills) stay so high?
EXMILILANI and UH soccer player Malia Beter has her own real estate company in Vegas, and she’s home for funeral services for her uncle, Kimo Makua. He was one of the founding members of the Waikiki Beach Boys Canoe Club. With his passing, the beach at Waikiki will never be the same.

Terri Villon Corpuz from Kahului won $10,000, Filipe Robello of Pearl City won $6,400 and $2,400 (wow, two jackpots) and Phyllis Keuma of Waipahu won $2,000 — all on the 10x’s pay machines. Federico Dalit of Honolulu won $4,000 on the reels, and Kalaya Higa of Mililani hit $4,000 royal. Hey what kine omiyage you guys wen bring back?
