NBA COMMISH David Stern said the league is not adding or relocating any teams because there is no NBA-quality arena in Las Vegas: “It’s more about the economy than the arena, the idea of expansion, of building arenas. It’s waiting to see if the economy has bottomed out, what it’s going to do.” The NBA Summer League, however, is a permanent fixture in the Vegas landscape.

WHEN SHOPPING for a Vegas show, The Lion King at Mandalay Bay may not stand out as a primary choice in the concrete jungle of Sin City. ELVIS LEFT the planet 32 years ago next month, but this December Cirque du Soleil will launch its yet-to-be-titled tribute to the King. The centerpiece of CityCenter’s entertainment will be in the Aria Resort and Casino. Details are scarce at the moment, but Victor Paterson (director) and Armand Thomas (director of creation) promise the show will be in Elvis’s image - powerful, sexy, whimsical and unique.
