Comedian Paul Ogata is at the Sin City Comedy Club Sept. 14-20

WELCOME TO Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!

COMEDIC TIMING ... UH grad Paul Ogata will be headlining at the Sin City Comedy Club at the V Theater during the week of the UH/UNLV game (Sept. 14-20). The ex-Pearl City resident explains that it’s not the kind of show you’ll find in most comedy clubs. “There’ll be burlesque dancers performing wild numbers and then me, but I’ll keep most of my clothes on.”

LIFE AFTER American Idol ... Paula Abdul says a Las Vegas show with her name on it and her in it is garans ball-barans.

MICHAEL’S DAUGHTER Paris Jackson got her hair cut and styled for the first time at Michael Boychuck’s AMP Salon in the Palms Casino Resort. When the “do” was done, the stylist had to sweep and bag the cuttings for her security guards so no DNA was left behind.

IN CASE you were wondering ... They intentionally turned off the P, L and S lights on the sign atop the Palms Resort Casino as a tribute to DJ AM, who passed last week. The hotel’s Rain nightclub also observed a moment of silence for its resident DJ Adam Goldstein (AM).

THE SPORTS BOOKS in Vegas can only take wagers on sporting events, but just for fun oddsmaker Johnny Avello is picking Donnie Osmond and Kym Johnson to win this season’s Dancing With The Stars. Coming in at the bottom of his list is UFC champ Chuck Liddell and Anna Trebunskaya.

NEVADA and Delaware are the only states in the U.S. where you can legally make a sports bet. However, this fall only parlays on NFL games will be offered at the racetracks of the First State.

Odds are on Kym Johnson and Donnie Osmond to win

THERE’S A NEW best bet at the roulette tables in the Orleans ... COLORS pays 8 to 1 ($10 gets you $80). Pick red or black and, if your choice comes up three times in a row, you win. The house edge is 4.34 percent - a little better than the standard 5.26 percent of the other roulette bets.

PHUONG QUOC TRUONG cheated 25 casinos for more than $7 million. Recruiting dealers from different casinos, the scam relied on a false shuffle to keep a group of cards together so the players would know what cards were being dealt next.

LAST MONTH a local crapshooter tipped the boys (dealers) at the Cal $12K, then came back the next day and tipped another $5,000!

ALSO AT THE CAL ... Norma Antolin of Waipahu and Elsie Chang of Waianae each won $10,000, Rayanne Young of Pearl City won $12,847, and Henry Nakagawa of Honolulu won $15,000.

A BIG MAHALO to Allen Ono, Norm Fujiwara, Bob Kozuki,Vernon Von and the entire Aloha Chapter of the Military Officers of America Association for inviting me to brunch and to talk story about Las Vegas with them.
