WITH MUCH FANFARE, Steve Wynn announced that Garth Brooks is coming out of retirement to play 15 weeks a year for the next five years. In a city known for over-the-top entertainment, excessive staging and even more extravagant costumes, this show will be the exactly the opposite. An extreme example of minimalism, it’ll be just Garth and his guitar on stage. Rumor has it that the casino mogul bought a jet to transport the singer to and from his home in Oklahoma for his gig at Encore.
BLOWING SMOKE up your ... When the casino opens in the Aria at the MGM Grand CityCenter, the space between the dealers and players on the tables will be separated by an air curtain. Shooting air straight up is supposed to minimize the dealer’s exposure to cigarette smoke from players. I gotta ask: What about protecting the players from each other?

The report also considered the number of each city’s sunny days.
