WELCOME TO Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
MANY FANS WERE disappointed when the Rain concert was canceled in Hawaii, but your chance to see the Asian idol is as close as your nearest theater. Check him out in Ninja Assassin, or on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day live in concert on the same Vegas stage that Bette and Cher call home.
AT THE SAHARA ... Tomiko Saunders won $624,652 on the quarter Wheel of Fortune.
$50 MILLION GOING ONCE ... Penn National has bid $50 million and pledged another $1.46 billion to complete the bankrupt Fountainbleau. Call your accountant, because it’s not too late to get in on the action. The deadline to place a bid is Jan. 15.
PAGING DR. EMMETT BROWN ... In July, Las Vegas used 5,586 megawatts of electricity - all without the use of a flux capacitor.
GUYS, WE’VE GOT YOUR back here at Kimo’s Vegas ... When his contract with the Hilton expires next month, Barry Manilow will become the resident headliner at Paris just in time for Valentine’s Day.
IN THE SPIRIT of the holidays, the Las Vegas Hilton is doing “Toys for Tweets.” Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the players club to make a child’s Christmas and get a two-forone buffet for yourself ... Tweet me @kimosvegas for the details.

IT’S BEGINNING TO FEEL a lot like Christmas ... Temperatures in the Neon City are dropping after a warmer-than-usual fall. Highs in the upper 60s and lows in the high 30s won’t break any National Weather Service records, but it’s a little too cold to wear a puka shirt and rubbah slippahs outside (unless you’re from Kamuela).
IN WITH THE NEW ... At the Palms, “Sean John,” “P Ditty” will host Sin City’s newest place for beautiful people. Mr. Combs will be the celebrity host for the grand opening of Vanity on New Year’s Eve at the Hard Rock.
OUT WITH THE OLD… A five-year record of 15 wins and 43 losses coupled with a per-season deficit of $3 million has UNLV saying aloha to its head football coach Mike Sanford.
CELEBRATE NEW YEAR’S at the Palms with Maroon 5 in concert at the Pearl.
SPEAKING OF NEW YEAR’S ... After last year’s debacle where no one could see the fireworks because they were set off from ground level - a change mandated after the Monte Carlo rooftop fire increased the cost of insurance for casino top pyrotechnics - this year the half-a-million-dollar display will be set off from the roofs of the Stratosphere, MGM Grand, Planet Hollywood, Caesars Palace, TI, Venetian and Aria at CityCenter. As usual, the Strip will be closed to all but pedestrian traffic.
EVERY TUESDAY through Dec. 15, check out the celebrity chef free demos at Whole Foods Market in Town Square. On Nov. 24, Alex Stratta (Alex & Stratta) hosts the “Thanksgiving Survival Guide”... On Dec. 1, Chef Mark LoRusso (Botero) takes the ho-hum out of holiday side dishes ... On Dec. 8, Paul Bartolotta (of Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare) shows you how to create a Feast of Seven Fishes ... But save room for Frederic Robert and Pierre Gatel’s Holiday Cookie & Candy Couture on Dec. 15.
