THE NEVADA GAMING Control Board reported that the casinos booked $87.5 million in Super Bowl bets this year. Unlike last year, when they made $6.9 million, this year the casinos only made $724,000 with most of the bigger houses taking a loss on the game’s over/under. Packers fans hedged bets on their team with a 45 point over that paid $56 for every $10 bet.
THE BELLAGIO BANDIT was smart enough to make off with $1.5 million in casinos chips. He also believed the casino would be dumb enough not to notice him losing $105,000 (in chips) and trying to cash out another $200,000 (in chips). After the casino changed the chip colors in circulation, Anthony Carleo tried to sell $25,000 chips to undercover agents. Chips are nicknamed for their color, reds are $5, greens $25, blacks $100, purple (or Barneys) $500, yellows are $1,000 and the $25,000 chips are called cranberries.
