SOME LAS VEGAS New (Year’s) math ... Number of people celebrating New Year’s in Vegas: 300,000+ ... the world’s largest toast in unison: 10,081 people ... New Year’s pyrotechnics five times the size of the fireworks in NYC: $500,000 ... and the gross revenue for one night (not counting gambling): $187 million.

WHILE THE 22,000 visitors and $29.5 million the Pro Bowl generated last year may seem manini in comparison, the national television exposure Hawaii gets is ... priceless.

DID YOU KNOW that an acre of Christmas trees produces the daily oxygen for 18 people, or that fake Christmas trees were invented by a company that makes toilet bowl brushes (I thought those bristles looked familiar)? What does this have to do with the price of tea in Vegas? Well, these factoids come from the National Christmas Tree Association ... who would’ve guessed they had their own association and an annual convention in February at the Rio?

AND GUYS, while we’re on the subject of Vegas conventions ... if your lady has a thing for shoes, surprise her with a trip to our favorite city for a shoe-gasm - the World Shoe Association’s bi-annual gathering on Feb. 10. With 35,000 conventioneers in town, every designer and manufacturer fills the stores with their latest footwear, and it’s all on sale. Did you know there was a shoe museum in Toronto, or that athletic shoe collectors have their own magazine called Sole Collector, or that according to Harper’s Index the average increase in the protrusion of a woman’s buttocks while wearing heels is 25 percent? Wonder if that increases with the height of the heel?

KATHY ESPIN’s Kidding Around Las Vegas, a parent’s guide to Vegas, is a great resource the next time you’ve got a family reunion or sports tournament in Vegas and need some fun things to do with the keiki. We’ll talk to her on the show, then with young gun poker player and author Eric Lindgren. Ever wonder how professional gamblers get credit cards? What do they put down for place of employment, the Bellagio Poker room? Join us Thursday at 9 a.m. on Sports Radio 1420 ... or listen in online at www.kimosvegas.com
