WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... the Player’s Edge!
Enrique Inglesias: One of the
beautiful people at JET
AHH, nothing like that new club smell to attract celebs like Paris Hilton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Enrique Iglesias, who were all at the grand opening of JET, the new club at the Mirage. Beautiful people, a one-of-a-kind light and laser grid, state-of-the-art cryogenic effects and the absolute best sound are all part of the mix at JET.
WHEN the Wynn Las Vegas opened, we told you about a new player tracking system they implemented using RFID Tags. This is the same system that retailers use to deter shoplifting or that the vet puts in your pet. Now when you hand the dealer your player’s card, this system tracks your every bet more accurately than any pit boss. The Hard Rock has also joined the RFID club.
HARRAH’S is using the RFID technology to track its beverage servers. Some say it’s a little spooky to have your every move tracked and timed, but the ACLU says that your constitutional right to privacy does not extend to the workplace. So how come we don’t have RFID car keys, cell phones and cable remote controls?
LAS VEGAS is officially the home to more World Series-es than Shiro’s has different saimin. Coast Casino is holding the Horseplay World Series. Nooo, it’s not about trouble you got into as a kid, but who’s the best at horse racing. The top 30 players win cash, and the king of the pony pickers wins $500,000.
THE 2006 World Series of Blackjack airs for the third time on GSN. Forty of the best BJ players will compete for the bracelet and $1 million prize.
The Tropicana Hotel & Casino is not taking any reservations past April 14. The folks who built the Rio and Wynn Las Vegas, Marnell Corrao Associates, are working on what will happen next. Will the Trop be imploded and completely redone or will it get a major facelift as Las Vegas expert Ted Newkirk from AccessVegas.com speculates?
DUMB and lolo Jacob Calero and Michelle De La Vega left their 10-year-old son and their 5-year-old autistic son home alone in San Francisco while they went on vacation in Vegas. The dumb part - the couple hired a sitter for their dog but left the boys home with some cereal and frozen food. The lolo part - when the police contacted the couple in Vegas about child endangerment they refused to cut their vacation short. Being this stupid should be a crime in all 50 states.
