It’s Carlisle’s train now
I am really disappointed in Mayor Carlisle. He is taking up where Mufi left off, trying to ramrod this rail system through, going to Washington to drum up support for it before he was even officially mayor. Could there be a personal interest in this, Mr. Mayor?
Thank you to Ben Cayetano, Cliff Slater, Panos Prevedorous and others who are fighting this financial disaster, and also the members of the City Council who are questioning the funding.
While we do need an improved transit system, this is not it, and it will cost much more than the original estimate. If we must have rail, make it ground level light rail, which would be much less costly and quieter.

MidWeek contributes
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire MidWeek family for publishing community events as well as issues that grab the interest of the community.
I believe in “reaching out,” and that’s exactly what your paper is doing. The community events, as reflected in the pictures taken by your photographers, keep us informed about what’s happening around us and knowing “who’s who” and “who’s doing what” in the community.
Your contribution, through media, is very much appreciated. Please continue the good work, and God bless.

Still alive
Many thanks for the cover story on Adult Friends for Youth in the July 6 MidWeek. We have had a number of very enthusiastic comments on it.
There is, however, one very significant correction that must be made. Jane Tampon’s parents may be shocked to learn that they are dead. They are, in fact, very much alive. They divorced when she was very young and did not play a nurturing role in her life. Her mother lives in Guam and her father in Hawaii.
Mahalo for your very substantial support,
Sid Rosen
