Admirable
Just a short note to say I appreciated the very revealing cover story on Oahu Publication Inc. president Dennis Francis.
I met Mr. Francis very briefly at a social event a few years ago, and am aware of his leadership in creating the Star-Advertiser, but was quite unaware of his admirable thoughts on philanthropy. It’s heartening to see a newspaper publisher who takes his position in the community so seriously and generously.

Think piece
MidWeek does what newspapers are supposed to do inform readers and make us think. In particular, Patrick Buchanan’s column on “the equality racket,” and comparing America’s freedom revolution with the equality revolutions in France, Cuba and China was brilliant.
It gives me a new way of looking at events in our country and in the world. As he writes, we are all born with equal rights, but must take personal responsibility for our lives and actions.

Good and bad
I wanted to express my appreciation for editor Don Chapman’s Oregon trip report a highly readable and enjoyable example of journalism.
And Rasa Fournier’s piece on Dr. Vendetti and Mr. Stone (“Hearing the Call of the Mountains”) is also a treasure a fine piece of writing and sharing of information.
Roger Simon, however, “gets no credit” from me. President Obama is a dismal failure in too many ways, most particularly as he plays lapdog to Netanyahu in the deepening morass of our country’s dangerously fraught “entangling alliance” with the Zionist pariah state of Israel. Can Mr. Simon say “truth, justice and peace for the Palestinians and for the Israelis”? Can Mr. Simon say “Iran” and the war the Zionists are avid to engage with it, a war in which America will inevitably become entangled? Can Mr.
Simon say “bankruptcy”?

Rollicking read
Thanks to Susan Page for a rollicking read, some laughs and great memories of the way it was when I was raising my kids, and how much the “tools” available to parents have changed as taking care of my grandbabies reminds me. Ms. Page expressed it so well.
