Smart addition

I’ve been a MidWeek fan for years, and appreciate your providing writers and opinions from a broad spectrum of political views. Still, I could not believe my eyes when I opened the paper and saw Fareed Zakaria. I’ve been a huge fan going back to his days at Newsweek, and agree that he is one of the smartest and most insightful journalists in the world. Kudos and thank you! for adding him to the MidWeek lineup.

Editor’s note: Mr. Zakaria will file two columns monthly, and this is an “off” week.

Romney and truth

Thank you to Arianna Huffington and MidWeek for publishing her column “Romney’s Attack On The Truth.” The Mittster’s line about President Obama being an “appeaser” of terrorists is proof that sometimes it’s easier get away with telling a big lie than a small one.

I know Romney is supposed to be a religious man, but you have to wonder what his religion teaches about telling the truth.

Huffington and MidWeek are doing their jobs by pointing out that lie. And shame on other media for using Romney’s lie as fodder to talk about modern campaign styles.

A third war?

I appreciate your publishing Patrick Buchanan’s column “Was The Mission Accomplished?”

More so, his calling out neo-cons and war hawks who got us into the messes that are Iraq and Afghanistan now itching for war with Iran are words that must be repeated and heeded.

Five-0 cheer

I’m a big Hawaii Five-0 fan, never miss an episode, so I was delighted to see MidWeek‘s “Very Five-0 Christmas” cover story. It’s wonderful that so many local people are employed by the show, and I enjoyed getting to know a little bit about Teilor Grubbs, Kala Alexander and Dennis Chun I didn’t know his father was the original Kam Fong!

Grands are great

I was behind in my MidWeek reading, and just read Jerry Coffee’s column “A Newborn Grandchild” column.

Thank you, Mr. Coffee, for your remark: “Had we known grandchildren could be so much fun, we would have had them first.”

I can so relate! He summed up my feelings precisely.
