Gary P. Smith does a great job outlining his perspective on “increased racism” throughout America. While the problems have remained the same, realistic solutions to these issues persist. Remember the Neo-Nazi going on a mass killing spree in a holocaust museum and the African-American employee who was subjected to harassment and death threats in his own work-place. Yes, as Mr. Smith says, America needs to change.
With so many “so-called” civil rights advocates quoting Dr. Martin Luther King for their own agenda, I felt it appropriate to quote one of my personal favorites from Dr. King: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Peace.

Huffington a PEP
As a person feeling great anxiety over the slow genocide of the Christians and Muslims of Palestine as a society, I am sick with disappointment at Arianna Huffington’s shallow piece on the Holy Land tragedy. Along the way, of course, it had to include the obligatory diversion to and demonization of Iran and its alleged interest in joining Israel as a nuclear power in the Middle East.
I cannot refute Ms. Huffington’s right to accord Shimon Peres respect and a podium, but I’ve been watching him, the quintessential Zionist, for decades, and he’s a hypocritical snake. He’s part of the criminal psychosis that has engulfed the colonialist ideology of Zionism, and is no more partner for a peace that includes any measure of truth and justice for the Palestinians whose land was stolen in 1947 than is Netanyahu, Lieberman, Livni, et al.
While Ms. Huffington was over there, I suppose it was just too hard to navigate the barriers of the illegal Zionist occupation of Palestine - the checkpoints, apartheid wall, etc. - and journey to Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. There, she could have been a journalist worthy of her profession and conducted a balancing interview with, say, politician/medical doctor Mustapha Barghouti, politician/educator Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, businessman/political analyst Sam Bahour, or any one of many of the victimized Palestinians who can explicate their torment with passion and intelligence.
Sadly, Ms. Huffington has proved herself the personification of an all-too-apt acronym: PEP, “Progressive Except for Palestine.”

Obama’s promises
He promised to reduce or eliminate earmarks for special-interest groups in bills passed for his signature. The first budget bill he signed had more than 1,000 ear- marks.
He decried the irresponsible action of the Bush administration for pushing through a $700-plus-billion stimulus package. He then “responsibly” quadruples our national debt into the trillions.
He promised that jobs would be created with his huge stimulus package. To date, the unemployment rate is 9.7 percent and getting worse.
He promised transparency and bipartisanship in deliberating and voting on important bills. He then strongly urged his Democratic-controlled Congress to pass his massive and complex health-care-reform bill before the August recess, knowing full well that neither the public nor the members of Congress had enough time to read and understand the details of the complex bill.
He promised to stop U.S. companies that outsource the manufacturing of goods to foreign countries, namely China, to save U.S. jobs. What we have seen instead is Obama outsourcing the financing of our huge national debt by borrowing huge sums of money from China.
Is there any wonder why Obama has so much resistance to his public-option healthcare-reform promise?
