Gene Peles has been named management executive for Hawaiiana Management Company Ltd. Peles is a retired master sergeant of the U.S. Army and prior to joining the company served as general manager for Evergreen International Airlines.
David Lewin has been named general manager of the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa. Lewin’s responsibilities include overseeing the rooms, food and beverage, sales and marketing and accounting, among others. He began his career with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in 1986 as a corporate management trainee in Los Angeles.
Stacy Keen has been appointed director of sales and marketing for The Wyland Waikiki. With more than 22 years of sales and marketing experience, Keen will oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy for Wyland. She previously served as senior sales manager for Outrigger Hotels & Resorts’ Beachfront Division.
Sabina McKinley has been hired as re-employment specialist for ProService Hawaii. McKinley will manage unemployment insurance claims and work with client companies on tracking and improving existing claims programs. She previously served as human resource administrator for Job1USA.
Matthew Skeele has been named health insurance services coordinator for ProService Hawaii. He previously was a field underwriter for Summerlin Life & Health. In his new position, Skeele will be responsible for client health insurance and administration of the ProService prescription drug plan and COBRA administration.
Sharnelle Tomita has been appointed associate corporate counsel for ProService Hawaii. Tomita will provide general corporate advice and counsel to the board of directors and senior management, among other duties. Prior to working with ProService Hawaii, she served as a litigation office clerk with Carlsmith Ball LLP.
Perry K. Martin has been hired as the new president of Maryknoll School and will assume the position when the school’s first lay president, Mike Baker, retires at the end of the school year. Martin has nearly 30 years of experience in the education system and is currently serving as principal and performing the duties of president at Marist Catholic High School in Oregon.
Charles Sasaki has been promoted to associate vice president of student affairs for Hawaii Pacific University. Sasaki joined HPU in 2005 as dean of advising and counseling. As associate vice president, he will be responsible for the undergraduate academic advising centers on the downtown and Windward campuses and oversee support services for special student populations, including those with disabilities and high potential students.
Marites Fiesta has been appointed dean of students at Hawaii Pacific University. As part of her duties, Fiesta will provide leadership and management for the dean of students’department’s initiatives and services, and serve as a student advocate. She was previously dean of student life and first-year programs.
Gwen Yamamoto Lau has been named president/general manager for Hawaii Central Credit Union. Lau brings more than 20 years of experience, and most recently served as senior vice president and West Oahu region manager for Central Pacific Bank.
Dr. James Lumeng has been named chief medical officer at Hawaii Medical Center East. He currently practices internal medicine in Honolulu and is a consulting pathologist at the Hawaii State Hospital. Lumeng is also a clinical associate professor of medicine at the UH John A. Burns School of Medicine.
