Dr. John Semenza has been honored as part of the 2009 Ke Kauka Po’okela Outstanding Physicians of the Year by the Queen’s Medical Center. Semenza is an anesthesiologist and has developed and coordinated the Queen’s Department of Anesthesiology Triage and Urgent Care programs. The annual award recognizes QMC physicians who have exemplified high-quality care, professional conduct and outstanding contributions.

Jonathan Hall has been appointed pricing manager for ProService Hawaii. In this position, Hall directs pricing of new and renewal accounts, manages the workers’compensation under-writing process and oversees the company’s audit, underwriting and claims staff.

Lilia Kapuniai has been promoted to community development manager for The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA). Hired in 2003, she joined the nonprofit as part of its Community Capacity-Building team and will now take on the management of the Community Development Division, serving CNHA members and oversight of the CNHA Donor Giving Program, the Hawaiian Way Fund.

William A. Kucharskirecently joined the Honolulu office of international engineering and project management company AMEC as vice president of Pacific Operations. Kucharski brings more than 35 years of engineering and management experience to the company. He will expand its Pacific operations to include more work in Korea, Japan, Alaska and Guam.

Dr. James Navin has been appointed pathologist/consultant for Diagnostic Laboratory Services Inc. As a cytopathologist, Navin has worked with almost all of the hospital labs in Hawaii, primarily Straub Clinic and Hospital, where he also served on the board of directors from 1975 to 1989.

Crystal Yamasaki has been promoted to senior account executive from account staffer for Bennet Group Strategic Communications. Yamasaki is part of the company’s Consumer Marketing Division, working with clients in health, education, travel and retail industries to develop successful, results-driven communication strategies and campaigns.
