Jim Granata was recently elected to the Animal CARE Foundation of Hawaii Board of Directors as treasurer. Granata is general manager of John Mullen & Company.
Dawn Matsuyama Dunbar has been appointed to the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii’s board of directors. She is the executive director of AfterSchool AllStars Hawaii, a nonprofit that provides comprehensive after-school programs for middle school at-risk youths. Dunbar has more than 15 years of experience in marketing, corporate communications and community relations. A graduate of Punahou School, Dunbar received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature with a minor in Asian Pacific studies from Loyola Marymount University and a master’s in business administration from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business.
Deborah Berger has been elected to the Punahou School Board of Trustees. In 2007, Berger co-founded The Learning Coalition (TLC), a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening public education in Hawaii. She also is co-founder and board chairwoman of Unbound Philanthropy, which promotes self-determination for immigrant and refugee populations. The New York-based foundation has supported projects in the U.S., Europe and Africa.
Sunshine Topping has been appointed director of recruiting by Hawaiian Airlines. Topping is responsible for developing the strategy required for Hawaiian’s recruitment of new employees to fulfill specific needs and specialties in conjunction with its future growth plans. Topping brings 15 years of human resources management experience, primarily in aerospace and technology, to her new role at Hawaiian. Most recently, she served for the past year as director of the state Department of Human Resources Development.
