Olympic decathlon gold medalist Bryan Clay, a 1998 Castle High grad now residing in Glendora, Calif., is taking a bit of a break to spend time with his family, while focusing on other important aspects of his life. Clay will be back in town July 9 and 10 for the official Hawaii launch of Yoli, a new health and wellness company that offers a solution to several major health challenges facing the people of Hawaii. The event will be held at Princess Kaiulani Hotel’s Aina Hau showroom and features a luau (July 9 from 7 to 9 p.m.) and an informational forum (July 10 from 10 a.m. to noon), at both of which Clay will be in attendance and signing autographs.

“I’ve been affiliated with Yoli since last year, I did my homework on it, I tried it and I loved it,” says Clay of the health drink. Clay appeared on MidWeek‘s cover in October 2005, and says he’s preparing and committed to taking home another medal, preferably gold, at the 2012 summer Olympic Games in London.

“I’m hoping I can do this again,” he says. “It’s so hard to put into words what it was like to win the gold. When I won, I felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. So few people get the chance to see their dreams come true. My family and coaches were a huge support. I did it for everyone who invested into this dream of mine - and my goal is to do it again! But my career can only last so long, it could end tomorrow for all I know. So I’m focusing on my Bryan Clay Foundation, which I founded in 2005, promoting Yoli and coaching. I want to be able to support my family.”

As a father of three, Clay and wife Sarah understand the importance of instilling a healthy lifestyle in their children Jacob (4), Katherine (3) and Ellie (4 months). It’s his belief that being healthy is not just about being physically fit, but also about having a strong spiritual, emotional and mental core.“If you can harness these four pillars, you can do anything you want to,” he says. “When it comes to my foundation, my goal is to build champions and change lives. Anything is possible.”
