American Cancer Society’s Boots On The Beach
Boots on the Beach, an American Cancer Society Western gala event, was held recently at the Kahala Mandarin Hotel. This annual fundraiser, benefitting cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services, featured a “wild and crazy” cattle chute, entertainment by Dita Holifield and endless country western dancing. Donations pledged that evening by the guests were matched by Honolulu developer Jim Schuler. The total raised was $200,000.
Boots on the Beach also recognized cancer survivor and Honolulu businessman Ron Slagle with the Patti Schuler Recognition Award. Boots on the Beach was established in honor of Patti Schuler, who lost a valiant fight with cancer in 2000.
